$\text{Ratio in 2011} = \frac{\text{Male}_{2011}}{\text{Female}_{2011}} = 1$

$\text{Ratio in 2012} = \frac{\text{Male}_{2012}}{\text{Female}_{2012}} = 1.5$

The number of female students in 2011 and 2012 is equal: $\text{Female}_{2011} = \text{Female}_{2012} = F$

$\text{Male}_{2011} = 1 \times F$

$\text{Male}_{2012} = 1.5 \times F$

So , $\text{Male}_{2012}$ :  $\text{Male}_{2011} $

$$\frac{\text{Male}_{2012}}{\text{Male}_{2011}} = \frac{1.5 \times F}{1 \times F} = 1.5 : 1$$
